What is the plan feature?
There are two ways to plan in Sharktower, Delivery Path or GANTT
The Delivery Path is a more detailed version of a Plan On A Page. This is where you should capture the high and medium-level work including outcomes (milestones) and phases. It is a very visual way of building a plan and easy to understand what is running in parallel and key dependencies across the project. This article is designed for the Delivery Path.
GANTT Planning follows the more traditional way of building a plan and allows you to build your plan similar to Microsoft Project or Excel. It captures the same information as Delivery Path and allows you to link key things are you'd expect in Sharktowr. To find out how to build a GANTT plan in Sharktower, click here.
What are the key elements of the Delivery Path?
Within the Sharktower Delivery path, you have clusters, activities, and outcomes to start creating your plan:
- Clusters are used for showing phases or tranches of work.
- These are simply a drawing tool to help you separate the plan into sections - it's not possible to filter by them or link them to anything else in Sharktower. Information on them can, however, be extracted for external reporting purposes.
- Activities are used for breaking the work down into 1 - 3 week blocks of work.
- You can filter by these in the Kanban, link them to Stand-up Meetings, and information on individual activities pulls through to the Overview page for your project
- Workstreams are the teams who will be responsible for delivering the activities
- You can filter by these in the Kanban, link them to Stand-up Meetings, and information on individual workstreams pulls through to the Overview page for your project
- Outcomes are used to show key milestones and appear at the end of an activity.
- These can be linked to objectives and appear on the Overview page to give stakeholders a view of high level milestones on the project. The next outcome is also displayed on the project tile on the Projects page.
