Project templates can be used to keep consistency across all your projects, which in turn, enables easy reporting. Use them to create a simple outline of the key phases and milestones you'd expected to see in every project. Examples could include:

  • Ensuring phase naming conventions such as Mobilisation, Discovery, Delivery, Testing, Productionisation, Benefits realisation
  • Consistent milestones such as "Stage gate 1, 2, 3" etc
  • Encouraging checklist items being completed before proceeding through each stage gate

How to create a new template


Begin by selecting TEMPLATES in the top-right of the Projects page. Then click CREATE TEMPLATE.


NOTE: It is not possible to create a template from a project (only a project from a template).



Enter details for the new template and then click CREATE TEMPLATE.



Tip: Adding a description is good practice so that all users can see at at glance what the purpose of the template is (note that, currently, it's not possible to change or add this later).

You'll then receive a notification that the new template has been created and it will then be selectable by all users with access when creating a new project.


What is stored in the template that you create?

The following will be retained in the template when it is subsequently used:

  • Plan and activities - use this to highlight the key phases and milestones
  • Meetings - use this to enforce any cadence e.g. if you want every project to have a weekly delivery review or a daily stand-up
  • Work items (tasks, stories, decisions, risks, issues) - use this to enforce the lower level detail under the plan, e.g. key project deliverables or sign-off teams
