This article assumes the Sharktower Stories Sync for Jira app has already been connected to your Jira instance - click here if this is not the case.

In Jira

  • Navigate to the project you wish to synchronise with a Sharktower project
  • Select Project Settings from the LHS menu
  • Select Apps from the LHS menu of the subsequent screen
  • You should see a "Sharktower Jira Project Setup" option in the panel on the left - select this

(If you don't see this option, you don't have the Sharktower app installed in your Jira instance - see here for how to install it).

  • You can then select your Sharktower project from the first dropdown
  • If you have already configured a story or complexity points field for your Jira project, you should see them in the second dropdown (you can do this later if you wish)
  • Note: You also need to have set up "story" as an issue type for your project - Jira will warn you if you haven't (see image below). Clicking the link will take you to a guide on how to do so. (Project Settings>Issue Types>Add issue type>select Story).
Once you have done this, you can refresh the above page and you should see the status sync mapping:

  • Click Update, and you are good to go! When you navigate back to your project in Jira you will see any stories which already existed in the Sharktower project in your Jira board, and similarly, if you go to your Sharktower project, you should see any stories which already existed in Jira now in Sharktower too.
