Following the steps in this guide will make the Sharktower Jira Sync app available for any project in your Jira instance. If the app is already installed in your Jira instance and you are looking to synchronise a specific project, click here.

Note: You will need a Jira Cloud instance. Trying to work out if you have one or not? A good way to tell is by looking at your Jira domain - if it ends with atlassian.net or jira.net you are using a Cloud instance.
To install the add-on the user must be a Site Administrator.

Installing the add-on

In Jira

  • Navigate to your Jira Cloud instance, then choose Apps > Manage your apps. It should look something like the below.
  • Click Settings and check the options Enable private listing and Enable development mode then click Apply.
This will enable the Upload app option (you might need to refresh the page to see it).
  • Click Upload app.
  • In the URL field, use the following:
https://prod-jira-cloud-addon.jira.sharktower.com/api/atlassian-connect.json

  • Click Upload
  • You should see the 'Sharktower Stories Sync for Jira' app in the list of User-installed apps once the upload is complete.
  • You can then click Configure to continue the setup - the first thing you will be asked for is an API key.

In Sharktower

  • As an Admin in Sharktower, navigate to the Manage Portfolios area of the Admin Panel.
  • Click the three dots to the right of the account name and select Copy Jira Addon API Key

In Jira

  • You can now paste the API key into the field in Jira:

  • A confirmation message will confirm that you've connected to Sharktower:

Note: Projects will not automatically start synchronising after installing the add on and configuring the API Key. First, you'll need to select a Jira project to sync with a Sharktower project.

Testing the add-on

Required to test the add-on:

  • Jira Software Cloud instance.
  • Sharktower instance.
  • API Key.

For testing purposes, you can choose to use your production Jira instance or create a new Jira instance for free.

We recommend creating a new Jira project and a new Sharktower project to use for testing purposes, before using for real projects.
