Feature introduction

With Sharktower's Cross-project dependencies feature you can call out where you have dependencies on activities in other projects. This facilitates the connection of project activity across your portfolio.

Project managers are able to see the impact of inter-dependent activities, for a cross-project understanding of the scope and progress.

How to do it

  • Create a new activity in your project plan (plan A)
  • You’ll then see the add-dependency button, click to link to a project (plan B). Note: you'll only see the projects to which you have access.

  • Select an activity from the project (plan B) and create a dependency on it.

  • Click the ADD CROSS PROJECT DEPENDENCY button to add the dependency.

  • The dependency is shown as an icon to signify the inbound dependency in your plan (plan A.)

  • And the outbound dependency is shown as an icon in the corresponding plan (plan B.)

  • The project owner of plan B will receive a notification to alert them to the new dependency.

  • Should the RAG status of the dependent activity change, this will be shown in the colour of the dependency icon in your plan.

  • Dependencies can subsequently be deleted by clicking the trash shown here:

Permissions

  • Project Managers or Project Delegates can add a cross-project dependency to any projects they have access to.
  • Regular users cannot add or edit a cross-project dependency.
