If I prioritise tasks in Focus for the Day, what happens to the rest?

You'll find all your tasks in My Kanban or the relevant project kanban.

How does Focus for the Day work? What does "postpone" and "block" actually do?

All the choices you make in Focus for the Day are reflected in My Kanban, as follows:

  • The tick/complete button marks a task as done and it moves to Complete in your Kanban
  • Postpone changes the due date, pushing it forward by 3 days from today
  • Blocked will add a blocked flag (icon) to the blocked task
  • Clicking on a task selects it as one you want to work on that day - the tasks you select to work on that day will be displayed on your Sharktower homepage and moved to In Progress in your Kanban.

What dictates whether a work item appears in my Focus For The Day?

This is driven by some logic designed to help you focus on the most urgent things that day. If you have:

  • more than 3
  • MEDIUM or HIGH priority
  • items which are overdue or due today

then you will see the Focus For The Day tile shown below.

(If you have 3 or fewer items which meet the other two criteria, these will be automatically selected).

Note that only tasks, stories, decisions, risks and issues are eligible for selection in Focus For The Day.

If you have fewer than 3 items which fulfil the other above criteria, or if you have 3 or more MEDIUM/HIGH priority items which are not yet due or overdue, you will see the black "Review your Kanban" tile instead.
